Hi everyone,

My name is Hamdan Khan, and I want to apply for the Github Student Developer Program, my school doesn't issue school email addresses and I am providing my enrollment proof in the form of ID Card issued by my institution, my application keeps getting rejected and it tells me to read the FAQ's with no clear guidelines on what my appllcation is missing

GitHub's own guidance confirms a school email is not required. You can still qualify with a personal email as long as you submit alternative proof of current enrollment (a dated student ID, enrollment letter, fee receipt, or transcript).

Verification is largely automated, and it's strict about specific details rather than judging a document holistically. The most commonly reported rejection trigger is a document that doesn't clearly show a current academic year or validity date, an ID card alone often fails this check even when it's genuine.

Other things worth double-checking:

• Your GitHub profile name matches the name on your document exactly.
• The upload is a clear, well-lit, uncropped photo or PDF (no glare/blur).
• Make sure your ID has a visible date, if it doesn't, add a second document that does.

If it's rejected again after fixing these, go to support.github.com/contact → Account → Other, explain that your school doesn't issue emails, and ask for manual review. Manual review by GitHub Support tends to succeed in cases where the automated check keeps failing, but it might take a while to get a response due to heavy traffic.
