Student verification rejected despite valid Japanese student ID with current enrollment dates

Hi everyone,

Hello,

I am a high school student in Japan applying for the GitHub Student Developer Pack.

My application was rejected because GitHub said that my academic document did not appear to include a date demonstrating current academic affiliation.

However, my Japanese student ID clearly states:

• I am a student of my high school.
• Issued: Reiwa 6 (April 1, 2024)
• Valid until: Reiwa 9 (March 2027)

All dates on my official school documents use the Japanese Reiwa calendar.

I have also completed the requested GitHub account requirements:

• Two-factor authentication is enabled.
• My GitHub profile uses my full legal name.
• My GitHub billing information uses my full legal name, matching my student ID.

Could you please advise me on how to submit a Japanese student ID using the Reiwa calendar so that my current student status can be correctly verified?

Hey, there are a few things you need to make sure: 1. Keep the name exactly consistent everywhere. 2. Use a document dated in the current school year (2026). If it still doesn't work, try using your 2026 class schedule or I'd strongly recommend using an official 2026 enrollment certificate from the high school.
