Bare Metal Solution release notes

Bare Metal Solution supports using Privileged Access Manager to provide temporary elevated access to a user to perform the critical evict operation that permanently deletes a storage resource. For more information, see Evict a LUN or storage volume.

Support for OS image SLES12SP5SAP on Bare Metal Solution is now deprecated. For information, see Available OS images.

The command to connect to the interactive serial console of a server is changing on May 1, 2025.

Old command:

ssh -i SSH_KEY_ID -p 9600 PROJECT_ID.REGION.SERVER_NAME.USERNAME.bms=true@ssh-serialport.googleapis.com

New command:

ssh -i SSH_KEY_ID -p 9600 PROJECT_ID.REGION.SERVER_NAME.USERNAME.bms=true@\REGION\-ssh-serialport.googleapis.com

Performance SSD storage is now available in all Bare Metal Solution regions.

Support for BIOS_PUR043.37.14.021 (TS24.02) and BIOS_PUR043.37.16.023 (TS24.05) firmware on Bare Metal Solution is now deprecated. For information, see Available firmware.

You can now order Bare Metal Solution storage and Partner Interconnect resources on a 1 month commitment term. This feature is generally available (GA).
